Opihr Gin, the world’s fastest-growing premium gin, is highlighting its adventurous spirit with the launch of the Opihr Adventurers’ Edition London Dry Gin, available exclusively to the Travel Retail channel.
Visitors to the Quintessential Brands stand at this year’s TFWA World Exhibition & Conference were the first to see the new Opihr Adventurers’ Edition bottle, which is set to be a hit with intrepid travellers and gin lovers in Travel Retail as they embark on their own adventures around the globe.
Available to operators in Travel Retail from early 2018 in 70cl and 1L formats, the Opihr Adventurers’ Edition design encapsulates the essence of adventure, discovery and travel, with maritime cues such as a wax-dipped closure and an illustrated map on the back label, evoking the history and heritage of the maritime spice route.
Created by G& J Distillers’ revered Master Distiller, Joanne Moore, the new expression delivers a more robust taste and is 42.5% ABV in strength, in reference to the midway latitude of the locations from which the botanicals for Opihr Gin are sourced. In keeping with the essence of Opihr, Joanne has combined botanicals that have been sourced from locations along the Maritime Spice Route, but to reflect the more adventurous nature of those who travel the world seeking out new challenges, she has brought the more intense flavours of ginger and woody spice to the fore. The result is a well-rounded, robust gin, combining a rich warm, earthy aroma with spice notes upfront and subtle camphor and citrus notes in the background. The taste is of strong, warm woody spices, but with a smooth, balanced mouthfeel that lingers to give a rich woody spice and pepper finish.

The brand is successfully bringing its spirit of adventure to life for consumers through its association with Sunsail, the yachting company, and with the global bar community through its Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition, which saw Aaron Pollack of The Dawson in Chicago, USA, crowned the 2017 winner at the Global Final in Marrakech, Morocco, last month.
