In a week that saw Opihr Gin confirmed as the fastest growing of the top premium gins in the UK , the Good Housekeeping Institute has reaffirmed Opihr’s superior taste and quality by voting it the No.1 gin in the UK in a blind tasting by a panel of spirits experts.
Long regarded as a symbol of quality, the Good Housekeeping Institute heralded Opihr Gin as the overwhelming winner, beating 21 other leading gin brands in the tasting. The expert panel described Opihr, which is a London Dry Gin infused with handpicked botanicals, spices and herbs, as, “A cardamom explosion, with fabulous ginger, orange zest and aromatic, sweet spice notes. The texture is smooth with a delicate warming finish.”
The success of Opihr, which has grown by 102% in value in the last 12 months in the UK Off-Trade , is indicative of the growing confidence of gin drinkers in the UK, with increasing numbers willing to go beyond the big-name brands and explore the category, experimenting with different flavours.
Shane Hoyne, Chief Marketing Officer at Quintessential Brands, creators of Opihr Gin, explains; “Opihr offers consumers wanting something more from gin exactly that – its intriguing flavour, which is derived from the exotic botanicals, spices and herbs used to make it, make it unique within the category, but importantly, it also retains the juniper characteristic of gin. The unique taste and superior quality of Opihr has been integral to its success so far and we’re looking forward to introducing many more gin fans around the world to our ‘Spirit of Adventure’ in the months ahead as we reveal what’s next for this game-changer brand.”
Leading the gin trend that continues to gather momentum around the world, Opihr Gin, has been recognised by the industry for its quality and intriguing taste numerous times, winning the highest accolades possible in some of the world’s leading drinks competitions in recent years and was also recently selected as the best Gin in Duty Free worldwide by Frontier Magazine. Opihr’s win in the Good Housekeeping Institute tasting has also been picked up by national media and the brand’s many fans, who have been vociferous in their support for the brand across social channels.
