Thomas Dakin Gin and The Dublin Liberties Oak Devil Irish Whiskey, both owned by the independent international spirits group, Quintessential Brands, are delighted to announce their Gold Medal wins at the respected The San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2016.
Thomas Dakin Gin, launched in July 2015, is a small batch London Dry Gin, named after the forefather of quality English Gin. The Dublin Liberties Oak Devil Irish Whiskey, also launched last year, is a super premium Irish Whiskey which takes its name form the Liberties area of Dublin.
David Hume, Director of Artisan Brands at Quintessential Brands, says: “We are delighted that our new small batch Thomas Dakin Gin has been awarded a Gold Medal in its first year. This is testament to the quality of our great liquid, our compelling and original story and our award winning packaging. As the forefather of quality English gin, Thomas Dakin set the bar in 1761 and it’s great to see that his legacy lives on.”
Sinead O’Frighil, Marketing Manager of Irish Whiskies at Quintessential Brands says: “It is great to hear that Dublin Liberties has won a Gold Medal in this important competition. We are thrilled with how this whiskey has been received by experienced tasters and with over 20 years of Irish Whiskey expertise behind the brand and an exciting contemporary marketing approach, we are looking forward to a dynamic future for Dublin Liberties.”
Notes to Editors
Thomas Dakin is a classic style single small batch gin distilled the original way at its home in the north of England. Thomas Dakin was a young entrepreneur who, at the age of 25, began distilling his gin in the north of England. In 1761, he pioneered the development of high quality English gin, before anyone else. Distilled to a secret recipe with eleven botanicals, Thomas Dakin Gin makes the ultimate ‘Tom & Tonic’, garnished with orange zest.
The Dublin Liberties Oak Devil Irish Whiskey is a non chill-filtered 46% blend of malt and grain whiskies, aged for many years in selected casks. It takes its name from the Liberties area of Dublin, a riotous quarter of the city known as ‘Hell’ where, in the 1700s, an oak-carved devil stood watch over the entrance. With the recent acquisition of The Dublin Whiskey Company, a new brand home and distillery is being created in Dublin and production will begin in 2017.
