The Greenall’s Original London Dry Gin Paper Bottle was chosen amongst the first consignments sent from the UK government to Australian and New Zealand trade ministers to mark the first trade agreements between the countries post Brexit that went into effect last month.
UK businesses will be able to sell to Australia and New Zealand more easily. The trade deals remove tariffs on all UK goods exports to the countries and could result in lower prices for UK consumers of imported goods.
Greenall’s Original London Dry Gin is packaged in a paper bottle manufactured by Frugalpac. The bottle is made from 94 per cent recycled paperboard, is five time lighter than a glass bottle and uses four times less water to produce. It is 100 per cent recyclable.
Greenall’s Original London Dry Gin was amongst other iconic British good chosen by International Trade Minister Nigel Huddleston who was present at DHL’s Southern Distribution Centre upon shipment. DHL is accelerating to low carbon operations with a commitment to reach zero emissions logistics by 2050 globally.
Huddleston said: “It is incredibly exciting to be visiting DHL to see some of the first shipments leave the UK, knowing that when they arrive Down Under they will benefit from our brand new deals.
“Australia and New Zealand are two of our closest friends and likeminded partners and our trade deals secure favourable terms for British exporters, removing tariffs on all UK goods and slashing red tape.”
With the launch of its paper bottle, Greenall’s has partnered with climate action organisation Ecologi to plant trees around the world in areas that need it most. For every Paper Bottle sold, a tree is planted. To date, more than 25,000 trees have been funded for planting.
Emma Thornton, Chief Brand Officer, Quintessential Brands, says: “Greenall’s Original London Dry Gin has a rich British history with an unchanged recipe that is over 250 years old. The brand’s move into paper packaging is part of its commitment to becoming more and more sustainable and we are honoured to be chosen amongst the iconic British brands sent to mark this momentous trade milestone.”
