WARRINGTON TO DUBLIN BIKE RIDE SEES COMPANY RAISE £21,302 FOR ST. ROCCO’S HOSPICE

Owner of G&J Distillers in Birchwood, Quintessential Brands Group, have raised £21,302 for St. Rocco’s Hospice in Warrington, following a charity bike ride that saw a group of its employees embark on a gruelling 350-mile journey from Warrington to Dublin.

A cheque was presented to Pam Massey, CEO of St. Rocco’s Hospice, by two G&J Distillers employees who participated in the ride, Kris Dickenson and Denise Smith (pictured above with Pam Massey).

Dubbed The Road to Dublin Bike Ride, the group of resilient riders set off from G&J Distillers on Friday 26th April. During their epic journey across some of the most challenging terrain in England, Wales and Ireland, they had to contend with Storm Hannah, one of the worst Spring storms recorded in decades, but arrived at their central Dublin destination on schedule on Tuesday 30th April.

£10,651 of the funds raised for St. Rocco’s came from generous donations from company employees, family and friends of the company. This sum was then matched by Quintessential Brands Group, bringing the grand total to £21,302.

Pam Massey, CEO of St. Rocco’s Hospice, commented, “We are so grateful to everyone at Quintessential Brands for the support they have shown us and for their generous donations. As a local charity, we rely on our community to help us raise 78% of our £3.6 million running costs each year. We want to say a big thank you to all of the inspiring and determined cyclists who took part in this tremendous challenge.”

Warren Scott, CEO and Co-Founder of Quintessential Brands Group, comments, “Warrington has been the home of G&J Distillers for centuries and has a special place in our hearts, and in the history of our company, as the home of so many of our colleagues, past and present.  We’re proud to be an integral part of the Warrington community, like St Rocco’s, which has provided invaluable support to many local people over the years.

“None of us knew just how challenging The Road to Dublin Bike Ride was going to be, but we were determined to raise as much money as possible. Each and every donation made by our colleagues, family and friends kept us going while out on the road and seeing the final total raised certainly makes all of the aches and pains we experienced afterwards more than worthwhile!”
